Guilford County Issues a "Shelter in Place Order"

Aberle and Wall Shelter in place covid-19

Due to the growing epidemic of the covid-19 coronavirus, Guilford County enacted a county-wide stay-at-home order that became effective on Friday, March 27th, 2020 at 5:00 PM. A full copy of the order is available here. A summary of the order, with some frequently asked questions is available here. At this time, the safest way to make sure that you are in compliance with the law is to limit any travel from your home to only essential trips. These trips include receiving medical care, going to the pharmacy or grocery store, or other locations deemed “essential.”

Even though some legal visits are considered essential, many court cases are already being continued without the need to be present due to an agreement between the Guilford County Public Defender’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, the Guilford County Clerk’s Office and District and Superior Court Judges’ Chambers. If you need a criminal lawyer or are not sure if you need to be present for your court date, please give our office a call.
