In an ongoing effort to reduce court congestion, limit potential exposure between people, and adapt to positive cases of coronavirus in the Greensboro Guilford County courthouse, there are frequently updated protocols regarding criminal courtroom and department closures. Many of these updates are available by clicking here. Because of these frequent changes, the safest way to make sure that you don’t miss a court date is to contact your attorney and stay in touch with them. You can also check for court dates by clicking here.

Some of the biggest announcements in the most recent protocol include:

  • Courtrooms 1A and 1B in Greensboro will be closed throughout August. For now, If you have a court date in one of those courtrooms, your case will be automatically continued.

  • There will still be some limited use of webex for handling some limited traffic cases virtually.

  • Courtroom 2C, due to its smaller size, will be moved to 1C where people can be more easily distanced. Contact your attorney prior to court to see if your attendance is required.

  • Dockets in 1C and 1D will be limited in size drastically to avoid large crowds in the courtrooms. As a result, several, but not all cases will be automatically continued. Notices will go out from the Guilford County Clerk’s Office for cases beginning on the week of August 10th.

  • For cases sooner than August 10th, there will be posted announcements outside of the courtrooms.

  • Criminal Superior Court will continue to operate with daily, rather than weekly dockets to reduce crowd size.
